Turn the laptop off, hold down the Fn key while you press the power button. This should boot it into Dell's diagnostic mode which will tell you if there are any problems that you haven't noticed that may be causing this by proxy.

I've run into this issue before, especially after users have changed their passwords. Using DOMAIN\username always works. Exchange-Server\username or DomainController\username never works.

First and foremost, download the latest drivers for all your pc components (do a Windows Update AND download manufacturer updates) which includes audio/video/network/mobo. Download and run http://www.memtest86.com to see if the problem is caused by memory issues.

I'm trying really hard to understand what you're saying, but I just can't figure it out... :-/ You are logged on as administrator, all the folders have sharing enabled and you can open any other folders on the PC except the two that you mention in the subject line? Is that right?

assuming this is windows xp - right-click My Computer - Manage - Event Viewer look through the System logs to check for any warning or failure events that occur at the time that you get these error messages. post them here.
