I feel silly even asking this, but I can't seem to find a Mac OS X 9.2.2 driver for this PCI NIC. The onboard adapter fried so I got this one on eBay but it didn't come with a driver (doh!)

Haha, Asante? Good look. I can't even find drivers for it for Windows XP, I have two or three of em in a drawer!

Grab an Intel e1000 card, or another high end card. D-Link DGE-530T should work as well.

OK so the Asante thing is a bust, won't work out.

The DLINK card states it only works on Mac OS X, can I assume it's backwards compatible with 9.2.2? Sorry if that's a lame question, Macs aren't my thing

Nope, probably not backwards compatible. You will be hardpressed to find a NIC that will work with the older versions of Mac OS.

3com used to make some kickass cards, see if you can find an older one and try to get that to work. You seem to be mostly SOL if you can't find any.

You confused me since in your first post you mentioned Mac OS X, and in my hurry to read it the first time I did not see you wanted it for Mac OS 9.2.2.
