The credit is now 2,719. So make the work unit a 308 credit work unit on an AXP 1900+. It shows a p1323 as being completed on the page, and descrip suggests the molecules are huge...

There's one of the big ones

Edit: The new unit looks to be even bigger. Though it's only got 250 frames, it's estimating about 40 minutes per frame. It's using even more memory then the old one with over 100 MB RAM...

It's "p1140_RIBO_FSpeptide_i" It's estimating 6 days and 17 hours on this 1.6 GHz AXP (though with the provisions i mentioned previously). This looks to be better then the 308 points if someone wants a list of these big units.

Activating that option I mentioned in configuration settings and restarting client, does seem to do the trick for getting these higher point work units though. Anyhow, gotta run...

Grrr, hate it when I take some time off work and come back to see that someone turned off my machine!

Was wondering why my work machine hadn't finished its work unit. I thought it was one of those 241 point GROMACS. I just looked and I'm going to finish a 600 point WU overnight. It will have taken about four days on my 1.7gig P4.

I guess this is delayed gratification.

you hate that! I just dropped from 8.8GHZ total folding powered up to my laptop (2.4 and only folds when the plug is in!) Just imagine those potatoes.... (is that the right saying? or is it apples?

Anyway it will be a few months/years before I fold again - although I am currently daydreaming about installing a racked server farm at Lords place.....

SOooooo did anyone step into my boots so to speak? I'll check thread in more detail, but active machine count indicates not - so come on guys or we will never climb below the high three hundreds in the rankings...

BTW congrats to Steevo on reaching the magic 100K mark!

I think I might have fixed my problem. It was probably software based, relating to some programs I had running and my power settings. I turned off all power management and it seems fine so far with the bar on 80%. I'm going to test my luck with 100% tomorrow.

Currently chugging away on this crazy thing on my amd64 system

Yeah those "RIBO" units eat tons of memory, but give 600 points. My machines are running 3 of them at the moment.

Question cmd line vs gui

I've just joined up to help you all out. I've also found a great little tool for viewing your Folding stats called "Electron Microscope" which you can obtain from the following site:

I was wondering that as well.

I went for the GUI, but would the cmd version be faster?

Anywho, just broke 2k points with 16WU's, woot!

Also found this site for stats

Well done. I'm still to get off the mark!

I like the stats page - I didn't know it existed.
I have added a link to my first post showing the location of a nice little desktop stats utility so you can see whats happening when your running as a cmd line service. Will probably work for the gui too.

Let me know if it does.

reps for you when you post your first unit!

(HINT - maybe override default save WU (checkpoint) time from 15 down to 5 or 3 minutes)

On a personal note hope to refold (reduced rate though ) on or around the 16th January (so, Vern - could get interesting!)

Smile Thanks

Thanks for the support and encouragement. I hope to post my first unit sometime on the 12th.
This F@H works differently from SETI and my faster machine is currently processing slower than my older notebook - even though they have the same sized work units. Is it just me or is this a "feature" of F@H?

Also how do the points work? Anyone?

The points for a work unit can be found on the OSNN.com page of F@H, click on "Stats", then on "Project Summary". Find the "Work Unit Name" you're working on; the points are the "Credit" amount. You will find that the frames don't have much of a relationship to the points earned. The points are actually related to the time spent folding the WU, based upon a standard.

Gee, the points really are all over the place. Now that I know where to look it makes a bit more sense. Thx

There really are a lot of active "folders" out there and a surprising large number on Linux - good news for those who hate MS. Must watch what I say 'cause I'm running XP, but I have converted a client to Red Hat to save lots of $$$$$ and provide a more stable platform for their custom Apps. But I digress. Sorry. (I'm over it)
