I have looked into it very carefully, and unless you have a truck load of money, stick with a broker.

E-trading I guess is for wealthy people only, that buy and sell shares for others as brokers.

There was a company, I deleted the bookmark, sorry, that has systems for "day traders" it was like $40K for the setup + the brokerage fees, the thing is that you can do all the day trading you want but you still ahve to pay someone to initiate the buys/sells for you unless you get a trader license. One of my uncles does this for a living, and even he says just use a broker unless you have at least $100,000 that you can gamble with (i.e. risk totally losing). Needless to say I was heart broken.
