I should have specified non-dell

I can get a good deal from dell anytime I want... my brother works there and I can get upto 20-25% discount on a product...

but the thing is I want to see if there are OTHER options out there...

I like my Compaq 2100 series. I specifically have a Compaq Presario 2140US, its only Compaq in name, all the parts are HP. Anyway for $950 i got:

AMD Athlon XP-M 2200+
512MB PC2100 DDR RAM
40GB HDD
ATI Radeon IGP Graphics w/ 64MB Shared Memory
Combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW Drive
15" LCD Screen

I also got several rebates and free stuff with it from Best Buy, including a second Lithium Ion battery ($150 value) and a external floppy drive ($50 value) free after rebates.
