Default Sorry for breaking the rules!

I posted in the Hardware section about chipping the PS2. I didn't know if it was against the rules, SORRY!

The forum guidelines are available here
and it's the job of the moderators/admin to keep them in effect.

Are the moderated because of laws..or is it the point of view of the owner of this site?

It's mostly laws for things such as piracy/warez and so forth, but theres also the aspect that this is a family site with people of all ages visitng, and common sence has to be bought into perspective too.

If laws or rules weren't here, people would be posting anything, from porn to warez.

1) Young children roam the forum
2) Warez can get this site shut down

(damn didn't see your post Speedy B)

I do not wish to cause at discussion..but I am just wondering, so I got it all clear..so I know what NOT to talk about...

So..if some things are legal in a country..like as an example music copying is here (for private use only)..it is a no-no to talk about here?

don't worry..

IMO the mods generally are liberal... and will only take someone to task for BLATANT violations...

I personally have warned a couple of people by pm'ing them and explaining their violation... its always better to have netiquette else things would go haywire...

but keep posting zanwar...

Things like that are kind of 'border line' so to speak.
It'd come down to a moderators perspective if they see something like that.
As you mentioned Music copying for personal use, I think that most countries do allow legal backups of things you have purchased.

Most things are never really 100% clear because of the internet being a world wide system and different countries will have different laws.
Your best bet is to post anything you wish (within reasonable common sence) and if you think that something may in-fact go against the guide lines then ask a moderator if it's acceptable.

I agree..

Well, I thought it is better to ask one time too many than perhaps cause problems for the moderators that is responsible for what is posted here.

Thanks for making things clearer!
