Default it cant be this easy...

ok. yesterday i went to buy some school supplies. after getting them, i went to the pc section and saw the typical desktops (compaq, hp, etc) that are locked so you cant use them. anyways, i was looking at one of the cases and saw a little sticker which had a valid legal product key. now, i know that it might be activated, but, what would happen if you see another sticker with a product key and it isnt activated?

ive seen other pcs with their keys out in the open and not activated (cuz it has the little key icon or whatever beside the clock).

I DO NOT INTEND TO PROMOTE THIS OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PIRACY, SOFTWARE STEALING ETC, I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ONE COULD BE ABLE TO USE THOSE KEYS AS THEY ARE VERY WELL IN THE MICROSOFT DATABASE

I've never seen a forum with so many threads on software piracy.

NetRyder - no argument. I wasn't suggesting people were posting cracks - only that there seem to be a lot of people here who are not only willing to admit they use them (or other forms of pirated SW), but seem proud to do so. Fascinating.

That product key can only be used on that brand computer....

All the major pc manufacturers have the same setup.

So if you use it, make sure you have the same brand you got the key off of.
