will be announced tonight at 7pm GMT. ATI, as far as I can tell, are not going to have anything that can compete with this thing until next year ![]() At this time Vista will also be announced as RTM, so interesting day ahead of us. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17644192 |

I'm switching to NVIDIA. I can't bear to use a product owned by AMD. I just can't do it.

Make sure you get one that has been fixed.
A large number were called back from the distribution channel just before release to have an incorrect part replaced. Seems Nvidia screwed up the parts list to the manufacturers. |

Iam holding myself back from picking one up. I am gonna wait a month or so, let the prices settle a little bit. Also, if any issues crop up they should be known in that amount of time.
But damn, I want one so bad. Will be a sweet sweet upgrade from my 6800GT. |

Okay, soon as I can afford to I'm popping my system with an evga nforce 680i SLI and two of those 8800GTX's
Once the drivers fix the SLI bottleneck I'll be able to play NWN2 at something other than minimum settings

I posted a news article for this on the front page, the system in the pic is Mike Chambers, the guy who runs nvnews. You should really check out some of the sytems there.
Venturi, another poster, has dual-dual core Opterons, 16gb of memory and sli'd 8800 gtx's ![]() Pretty impressive hardware. |

I just installed NWN myself and Iam not happy with the performance either. Especially considering how mediocre it looks at those settings.
What specs is your machine if you dont mind me asking? |

2GB RAM Geforce 7800GTX 256MB factory oc'd. Creative X-Fi. The only othre game that chugs on this is NFS Carbon, but I just have to set it from very high to high

not quite min specs but certainly lower than I'd like. 1600x1200 is a slideshow.
I have to run at 1024x768 with shadows set to low, water effects turned off , bloom disabled, point light thing disabled and textures set to 2048 instead of 4096. |

All have the same basic configuration.
The EVGA model with the full body heatsink setup is probably the best. Check the link I posted on the front-page for Mike's configuration. He has it, said it dropped the temps nicely. |

the evga card with the acs3 cooling will severly curtail what other expansion cards you could use, especially if you use their nforce 680i sli motherboard.

The prices here in Australia are getting slightly insane... Asus 8800GTX's are fetching up to $1300 - about 30% more than the 7900GTX ever was, or indeed the 7950GX2...was feeling good about my new 7950GT till I found out the 8800's are more than twice as fast :O
