adobe will sell you a student version direct. All you need is a tutor to sign some paperwork proving you are a student.

Most of those places will allow for the student discount, you will have to verify your student status, though. They have ways of doing this so you don't have to give out personal information.
Most of the time, you will be able to ftp the download, you might have to pay an additional fee if you want a hard copy. I have used this site, and I believe the MSN dreamspark giveaways use it also. http://www.journeyed.com/home.asp?sSrcCode=CJ2001 |

I'm seriously planning on purchasing the entire CS4 suite as well, as I'm a student as well. It's much cheaper and it seems like an excellent deal. I'd say go for it!

It depends on the product and a few other things, usually as far as I know almost half price.
