Default Router Firmware Issues

Hey guys,

I installed the Tomato 1.27 Firmware the other day and I have been having issues. It started with Google products, Gmail, Reader and all of those. All of a sudden they will not load, gives me the Server Not Found issue. So I turned off my Windows Firewall and it worked again.

Then it happened again, and then fixed it self randomly. Had a similar issues with Spybot, worked again after the Firewall turned off.

I figured it must be the new Router Firmware, but how? I see no place in the settings for exclusions in the Firewall, even then why would it work, then not work. It's very weird. But that is the only thing I have changed.

Ideas?

That is your local machine, Tomato shouldn't have anything to do with either of your examples, it's just a coincidence.

As for the problem, it sounds as though your machine is not getting correct DNS info. Perhaps try setting it manually on your machine and then flush DNS and see if that fixes anything.

I flushed the DNS, didn't do much. I have since gone back to the default Linksys firmware and things seem to back to normal. Except that there is still one page I can't seem to load (newsleecher.com) but it's different then the posted program, it actually just gives me a white page.

Weird, oh well.

A WRT54GL with Tomato is rock solid. I wouldn't run a Linksys with default firmware, as it is junk.

Unless you need 802.11n which that router is not capable of.

Maybe for you but all my wireless devices run real solid and fast.

Heck I even run game servers over wireless at times.

I have a DIR 655 Xtreme N Gigabit router.

Suppose thats true, but then everything has it's pro/cons. Just because it doesn't have "n" I don't think it makes it worthless, or effect it's stability and that is what I was getting at.
