I've been getting blue screens on a regular basis but get this...if it does happen it will almost always be a few minutes after I get home and turn my computer on in the kitchen now, I'm plugged in and there's not enough time for there to be an overheating issue so what could possibly be going on in the kitchen to cause a blue screen? microwave is off, refrigerator is on, stove is off, gas fired and of course this never happened with any other laptop |

vista is a bad cook and is telling you to get out the kitchen, or it could just be the usual with vista - bad update, bad drivers, check the disc for errors, might be trying to read a file and cant so it blue screens, could be mem related etc etc

Perris, this may sound weird but I have a feeling you have bad wiring in your place that may be contributing to a lot of the issues. If there are problems with current being provided to your system and if you don't have a surge protector or an older one or one that has no protection left, the spikes transfer to the unit.
Once the components within your computer are fluctuating, it is very probable you are going to start seeing random errors related to the hardware occuring and this will likely attribute to your BSOD's. Either that or you have some really badly configured stuff in your system with hardware and drivers. Please provide a detailed listing of your entire systems components, power supply and all other parts so we can get to the bottom of this

Therefore it is highly unlikely it is the usual with Vista. How is it that so many other users are able to use their vista builds without issues or, even if they have issues, without bsods and Perris has multiple bsods? That is atypical and points to something serious going on I would think. |

when vista was first out any and all drivers from a wide range of manufactors did blue screen vista alot, and there have been updates from ms that have hosed a vista install, i said usual, as driver fault, or hardware fault could be to blame, as i said in my original post
![]() or it could be something to do with the nylon carpet in perris's place and its a static issue

You're welcome
Belarc has a nifty feature that pulls up the serial keys you used to install a product and often the OEM code.Kinda information i'm sure you'd rather kept private ![]() On Topic: Does this same laptop behave anywhere else in this manner using the same battery? |

Have you turned off auto-restart so you can possibly see the error message?

You can debug the dump file(s) to see what is the cause.
Found a good tutorial on it in another forum: BSOD ~ How to use Debugging Tools For Windows |

What about older florescent lighting or maybe by a window with an outside security light near by that might be getting ready to come on?
I had an old outdoor security light that comes on at dusk/off at dawn and was very noisy then after time I noticed the light would take 3 to 5 minutes to power up every evening also every evening as the light was trying to come on my monitor would flicker or worse the screen would get lines through it too the point what I was viewing was unrecognizable. This light is outside and 14’ away about 16’ in the air so in the end I replaced the light and the monitor was fine. Just a thought? Also strong radio signals on that side of the house? Try a room on the other side of the house for a week or two and see what happens. |
