Default Laptop Hardware Question

I am trying to figure out what the issue is with this laptop I have here. It's fine on for an hour or two then all of a sudden the screen flickers (like on a crt when you hit the degauss or what ever its called button) You think its an video issue of some sort?

Ok now the screen is going crazy. I can't even get it into safe mode with it freezing.

I remember my one of my friends mentioning something very similar a few months ago. Turned out that the video card was giving way, so he called support and received a brand new machine because it was still under warranty.

If you can, I'd suggest checking the ribbon-cable connection from the video card to the display first to make sure it's not loose or being pinched by any of the adjacent parts. That can cause distortion too. If that doesn't help, my guess is it's the video card itself.
