I am wondering what cordless keyboard/mouse works really well from 10' to 15' away from base. This is for my media center in my wall unit. I want to sit on my couch and use them. Hopefully I could avoid bluetooth. Thanks in advance, Heeter |

I have the Logitech MX1000 mouse. I have used it across rooms before, probably close to 20 feet, works like a champ. My keyboard isn't as far, maybe close to 10 feet. Not sure the exact make/model but I can check when I get home. I have been waiting for the Keyboard to come out with the MX1000 engine for awhile, *drool*

kcnychief, I was told at the Computer store that the logitechs couldn't make it back 5 feet, but if the MX1000 can do 15', I am getting it. I know my MX700 sucks at distance, maybe 3' to 5'feet MAX. I would guess the keyboard might do the same thing though..... Thanks kcnychief Heeter |

My ATI AIW remote works about 20 odd feet away. My MX1000 works about 20 feet tops, a coupla feet less than the AIW remote, though not much. Now my remote's receiver is a little clearer (no stuff absorbing signal) so I would say charged and w/o obstruction, it is probably about the same range.

I just measured, I can actually get signal at 100% reliability on my MX1000 at 22 feet. After 23 feet, it still works but signal degrades and drops off totally at 28 feet. Man, that's S-I-C-K

Wow, not only can you highjack a neighbors wireless network, now you can hijack his keyboard and mouse too.
![]() Seriously, will they work through interior walls too? I'm thinking about going wireless and I'm wondering about interference. Do cell phones or portable phones affect them? |

Which, I hope stays that way for awhile. When we moved in my Fiance's mother referred to it as the "baby's room". But, no such luck on that so far, haha. Also, ironically enough that you mention that, the other night I did connect to my neighbor's wireless. I just moved in, hadn't explored that yet. Believe it or not I get better signal strength on their router than mine. They don't use encryption and I do, lol |

Thanks Mainframe.
I have a nice connection to my neighbors unprotected wireless. Though a brick wall, 2 plaster walls, the 2 cars in my garage, his brick wall and who knows how many interior walls. So I'm very watchful of security with wireless gadgets. If I want to download porn, movies or songs I use the neighbors connection.

And I say discrete, because depending on the neighbor, they might take offence to you having been in there ![]() Speaking of which, back when I lived on campus and was on the resnet connection, I decided to try PC Anywhere. You wouldn't believe the number of students who had unprotected win95 and win98 boxes with unprotected PC Anywhere servers running on the campus ethernet... Then again, perhaps some would. About all I did was leave a readme.txt file on their desktop to tell them just how unprotected they were leaving their box, then backed out ![]() Wireless key loggers, hmm

Just be careful with what saz warned about. Any good lawyer who puts 2 and 2 together ![]() Then again, if they figure it out soon enough, a call to the pizza delivery guy for 100 pizzas, pay on arrival, might be fitting recompense

I just read this article which was posted on the main page, and wanted to post it here too. Proposed 30 foot range, but takes 4 AAA batteries. Man, I want one so bad, I put a note in my Outlook Calendar to buy one when they come out in September. LOL
