Cool Create Your "Dream Machine" (Take II)...

Newegg.com makes it easy with their "Wish List." So here's my "Dream Machine," assuming that I didn't have to worry about cost and assuming I was building it today:

1 - Lian Li PC-V2100A Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case -
Retail Model #: PC-V2100A - $265.00

1 - ASUS K8N-DL Dual Socket 940 Extended ATX Server Motherboard - Retail

X800XL 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - OEM Model #: 100-714500 - $349.00

1 - Antec TruePower 2.0 TP2-550 EPS12V ATX12V 550W Power Supply -

2 - AMD Opteron 250 SledgeHammer 800MHz FSB Socket 940 Processor
Model OSA250AUBOX - Retail Model #: OSA250AUBOX - $1,398.00

1 - CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

2 - HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 HDT722525DLA380 -0A31636 250GB 7200
RPM Serial ATA II Hard Drive - OEM - $260.00

1 - PLEXTOR PX-716SA/SW Beige SATA DVD Burner - Retail Model #: PX-716SA/SW - $129.00

Subtotal: $3,175.00

Damn! On one hand, what a kick ass system for $3,175.00, and you pretty much can't buy a fully built system like this for this price. On the other hand, I can't afford a $3,175.00 computer right now. If I had to be more realistic, I'd probably find a cheaper case and switch over to a single processor (but dual-core) AMD 64 solution.

(And, as for the hard drives, Newegg only provided Hitachi HDs for SATA II. I normally buy WD.)

Anyway, no new computer for me until at least 2006. I'm currently practicing restraint and trying to be "happy" with my AMD 2400+.

So what would your "Dream Machine" be?
