Default my cd dvd drive is gone!
I went to copy a dvd I had made put in the blank dvd, it was doing nothing so I shutdown the program and the dvd would not open, so I reboot and lost the cd dvd drive. the dvd is still in the E drive which is not showing on my computer. Using windows xp. Any ideas? I tried system restore and I tried rebooting again. I do not see the cd/dvd drive in the device manager?

my son just helped me via phone, I went into the bios and esc and saved, then the E drive was restored.

this is a commonplace - you were lucky the BIOS redetected it - often with a poor BIOS it is required to physically unplug and replug the drive - I know because I have found myself doing it! (there's a thread somewhere here!)
