Max disk space?

Can someone tell me what the max disk space Windows ME recognises please?

I'm pretty sure that disk space is limited only by your motherboard/hardware.

Well, FAT32, so 2TB. The mobo may only detect 137GB or even smaller.

My friend just installed a new HD in his machine which runs on Windows ME, but it's not recognising it in Windows.
I think he's just forgot to run FDisk on the new HD, which is most probably the cause of the problem.

How big is the drive, and how old is the computer?
I had to use jumpers to limit a 40gb drive down to 37gb for my uncles computer not so long ago, as it's quite old. Confused me at first, on first boot it recognised the drive, second boot (after I'd got through installing Win2k) it recognised it was there, but wouldn't access it, then it completely disappeared :P quick jumper switch and all was well

A few years back I upgraded from a 3 GB HD to a 20 GB HD on one of my older win98 machines, but because of my motherboard, I could only use 16 GB. So like SpeedyB said, it pretty much depends on your motherboard/software.

And if that is the case you can usually get around it by using special software from the manufacturer. It makes BIOS detect it as a small disc, but let's you use all the space.

Yeah, my friend said that's what happened to his new HD. It's 80Gb. He's got it working now after I told him to FDisk the thing.
