is Hitachi a good make? is the cache size important? ive came acrss 2mb and 8mb - im guessing 8 is better. |

hitachi and ibm merged a year or so ago. good company with fast drives. but everyone has their picks and pans so just trust that any harddrive you buy has a chance of crashing. for benchmarks and comparisons, go to www.storagereview.com and look at their 'performance database'.
and 8mb is marginally better.

Have just bought the Hitachi Deskstar 120 Gb, having seen reviews of all current makes.
Has fastest read/write speeds . Used with "Tweak XP " cache tweak settings ...reads at 90Mb per sec.,and that is only the 2 Mb cache model. Old SATA Maxtor 120 Gb drive read @65 Mb per sec ! Judged by Sandra. |
