Could it be the LPT1 wire

Hi Guys,

I am trying to get my older brother laser printer to work. I manually installed the drivers for it through my Windows XPHome, It is now listed in my printers list folder. I reset it and printed a test page from the machine itself. Now when I try to print a page, it won't print. The little icon in my system tray comes on for a couple seconds then goes out, just like it does for my other USB printer. Does XP know if the LPT1 printer is unplugged, like a USB printer. I am trying to figure out if it is the wire or the IRQ settings in my BIOS. I tried all the IRQ settings to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

Is this printer USB or does it use Parallel port? Also if you go into device manager is it listed and shown to be working properly?

Thanks for the reply xie,

It finally was the LPT1 parallel wire. I replaced this afternoon.

Hehe, those parallel port wires can be quite evil.
I remember them dying out almost every 6-8 months on my old printers. Thankfully, there's USB now.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
