Default Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 question....

Well I decided to go with the Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 speaker system. I think I know the answer to this question...but I am gonna ask anyway....when playing an mp3....I only get sound from the left and right front speakers and the subwoofer....which is right because its a stereo recording and not a 5.1 recording right? If it was a 5.1 recording I would get sound from all 5 speakers and the subwoofer right?

I just hooked these speakers up for a friend and he had the same problem. Exactly.

You have to set it in the configuration in the software that it came with. By that I mean in the sound card.

Well..lemme explain. He got a sound card too, when he bought the speakers. It's in that software where you have to set it.

For him, it was the Phillips SoundControl Agent. 5.1 had to be selected. It wasnt the default.

no your sound card control panel should have an option called CMSS, on sound blaster i think its with the EAX console. select it and it upmixes to 5.1
