Have you tried formatting the card? There should be an option with the camera to do it. No reason why it should not work.

Yes, I've tried formatting the card. The computer tells me that there's no disk in the drive and to insert a disk ('cept that we're talking flash media here, of course)--exactly like when you try to format a: and there's no floppy in the drive.
