Default P4 laptop and P3 desktop
I think P4 2G is definately faster than P3 933!

but my P4m "CPU usage" is always higher than P3 desktop when running on the same application.

How come?

There has no background software running on both pc's. e.g. virus scan, battery monitor, etc.

Look at the amounts of RAM on your desktop and then on your laptop - That may be the reason.
