Default cpu usage %60

Hi,


I have a great problem with my modem, apache v92 USB....

my modem makes my cpu usage %60 when I connect to my ISP...

and this affects my system performance of course.. my computer

slows down... my fps in counter strike falls to 9 fps from 99 fps...

This makes me crazy... PLZ HELP!! :confused:

get a new modem a hardware one not a win modem, or deal with your fps being crap for .5 seconds how that should even matter is I dunno... how are u even in a game if your not connected to the net already?

is that a problem with modem? apache v92 USB 56k modem...
I bought it lately... my OS is XP... 512 RAM, pIII 700...


are u sure that its due to my modem?

no its a problem with the type of modem some modem do all the work by themselfs while other modems use your computers resources to do the same thing while connecting and disconnecting, other then those 2 times u won't see any difference.

take it back and buy a modem that does the work itself, I'm not sure what the type of modem is called so you might want to ask around for that lil bit of info. should say it on the box tho

but i think it should not take too many resources even though it DID not do the work itself...

Driver problem?? or mayb it conflicting with other hardware...:confused:

Your machine is struggling to cope with this modem. Krux is quite right when he says get hardware one.

What you need is an external modem that plugs into your serial port. Some good makes are US Robotics (3com), Olitec and Pace.

Usb modems aren't really designed for slower machines running the modem and a game.
