Does that require my motherboard to support 3.0? I am assuming the only way I can get USB 3.0 support is through a PCI card? Correct (assuming my motherboard does not support it) |

If the new USB 3 front panel has the new USB 3.0 header for internal connection to the motherboard than a board that does not support USB 3 (does not have USB 3 header) would not work as the header has changed.

Easy enough to change the pins in the case header or pull them and insert into an old style header.
