Default Motherboard Options

I am building my new system now, see how expensive it is for what I want, then if its too expensive I will wait.

Anyways,

I chose this CPU. i7 2600K

Newegg.ca - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K

And I am wondering what my motherboard choices are. I want USB 3.0, as many 3.0 ports as possible. I want Tripel Channel Memory (or duel channel I guess) up to 2200 (or is it 2133MHz). Support for SLI/Crossfire, so at least 2 of PCI Expreess 2.0 x16.

And of course any other features that help with future proofing it.

Thanks.

Newegg.ca - EVGA 141-GT-E770-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard <- Sweet board.

I am still waiting to get the 6 core processor though.

Maybe this one
Newegg.ca - ASUS Maximus III GENE LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

this is only available as part of a combo
Newegg.ca - ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

lacks USB3
Newegg.ca - ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer with NF200 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

this one
Newegg.ca - ASUS Maximus III Formula LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

not a lot of USB3 ports
Newegg.ca - ASUS P7H57D-V EVO LGA 1156 Intel H57 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Would be the ones I would look at based on your cpu and other requirements

Well it would seem to be sightly different, not sure what or anything. That said my mistake I guess as I clicked the wrong socket link.

Try this
Newegg.ca - ASUS P8P67 Deluxe LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - MSI P67A-GD65 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - MSI P67A-GD55 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD4 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD7 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - ASUS P8P67-M PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - ASUS SABERTOOTH P67 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution LGA 1155 Intel P67 / NVIDIA NF200 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD5 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.ca - ASUS P8P67 EVO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Those boards are the correct socket and based on your requirements are ones I would look at.

Again sorry about the wrong socket on the first set of boards, though that would explain why it was harder to find ones with USB3
