How do you change the my computer icon?

I got a package of icons today and was wanting to change the My Computer appearance.

Right click your desktop, properties, desktop tab, customize desktop

There is a program called Icon Workshop that makes it easy to change the icons for anything... and you can create or modify icons as well. Check out this link, I think it's a free download:

Most main icons, stuff on the desktop you can just , right click,properties, change icon!

i can't figure out how to change the icons for My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos...

no right click, properties, customize option... and no option in customize desktop thing either...

hmmm... there's got to be a way to do it without that icon workshop thing...


edit: and what about the control panel, and network connections, and printers...

where'd you figure out which keys were which folder???

cause i'd like to change a bunch more than what you listed...

For the My .... folders just edit the hidden desktop.ini file inside the folders.
Replace the lines

IconFile=%SystemRoot%\System32\mydocs.dll
IconIndex=-101

with

IconFile="C:\Any folder\Any.ico"
IconIndex=-0

one last thing... what about the ugly yellow generic folder icon...

is there anyway i can change that without doing it to each and every folder individually???

i went through the registry and checked every "defaulticon" entry and found some that referenced "folder" or "folders" but they didn't seem to make a difference what they were set to...
