Default Smoother wallpaper when Icons are shown

I noticed that when I hide my desktop icons in Winxp SP1, my wallpaper becomes very rough and not very pleasing looking. Is there some sort of acceleration involved that I could adjust and make permament so my desktop background is always smooth even without icons?

its because the wallpaper is being stretched if you resize your wallpaper in photoshop or something the same exact res your running it will get rid of the jagged look your getting.

That's the problem. I am using the default XP wallpapers. I used to get smooth wallpapers with or without icons... now whenever I hide the icons, the wallpaper is rough and ugly even if I am at the same resolution as the image (800x600).

Any more ideas?
