What just happened? This is the neglected official blog of the Electronic Punk - http://www.electronicpunk.com - The as-of-yet-undecided-title-el-presidente of OSNN.net. He totally promises to blog more than twice a year.

Winding things up

Posted December 28th, 2006 at 7:30am by Electronic Punk (Electronic Blog)

I have got rid of the overly-dramatic black style for something a little fresher for CES this year and I am determined to drag myself away from the blackjack tables and do some good updates!

The style I am using is pretty much the default, but I will hopefully be making a few changes before I head out as I certainly won't be in the mood to change them once I am out there!

Windows Media Player 11

Posted November 2nd, 2006 at 11:03pm by Electronic Punk (Electronic Blog)

I am going to make the effort and trying to do more smaller blogs than grouping stuff up, looks easier on the eyes.

Windows Media Player has now been out for three or four days and the general concensus seems be good, really liking the x64 edition and have been waiting for it for quite some time having had a look at the first beta on Media Center 2005 before I chose to migrate back to x64 (for some reason) - and Vista of course.

This post has a few points of course as my posts generally do, so here we go. Firstly I like WMP11 alot, most of my music was pretty organised already so the qualms I had with the first beta aren't so important

-- Basically I had an album that was split into three different albums and I couldn't find a way of merging them into a single album without using a third party bit of kit in the RTW version I actually had the same issue after searching for some album art but the drag and drop method seemed to work this time around,...

Windows Vista De-Lite

Posted November 2nd, 2006 at 8:13pm by Electronic Punk (Electronic Blog)

I was going to open with a swear word, but I have decided not to. I am doing this one for the kids, or at least the clueless ones.

I keep reading about features being ripped out of Vista and how there is no difference between WindowsXP and Vista -- But you never compared Windows 2000 and windows XP in such a way and that was only an upgrade from 5 to 5.1, this is 6 written from the ground up.

For a general idea of whats new check out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows...dated_features

Pretty much all there, of course being a product that is going to replace a previous version of a product that does the same thing, there are going to be the similarities but there is no point replacing something that is tried and testing with something you are not quite sure about.

I reckon the new Mac software, Leopard is going to have similarities to OS X but you don't hear Max users whining about it.

Thinking...

Power, Vista, Dog

Posted September 25th, 2006 at 8:26pm by Electronic Punk (Electronic Blog)

Keywords in the title - Genius! I have been meaning to update for the last 3 weeks or so but it turns out I am lazy. But I think I have dredged together enough stuff to make a blog, I usually work on three items at least, I think I have got there, don't remember.

I ****ed up the logo at the top, was trying to tidy up my FTP and seems I deleted the logo, so made an even worse one up. Bugger. I need to redesign this site anyway, I have something brighter planned, got a photo that I don't hate of me, basically as it is blurred to hell and looks pretty artistic. We will see, or I could just do another logo, laziness prevails.

Gadget of the month

Ok lets pretend I bought that mouse last month, more recently picked up my another toy to keep me occupied, well a few of them actually. Three Wall-plugged HD Ethernet Adapters. Basically, I lost confidence in the wireless in my house, the walls are weird and probably have all kinds of crap in them that blocks...

Has summer gone yet?

Posted September 4th, 2006 at 10:06pm by Electronic Punk (Electronic Blog)

It is the summer that just keeps on giving. Won't end, is damn well September and still too hot.

Dell laptop update

Well firstly the bug that can never be fixed has been fixed. A few people suggested calling Dell. So I did. What is the worst that could happen? They would laugh at me and tell me that it was an act of god and therefore not covered under the warranty?

Anyway, after talking to his manager the Dell engineer agreed that it was probably damn annoying and I had a new screen the next day. I obviously felt a little guilty at having an engineer drive all the way from Portsmouth just to swap a screen, but he had other jobs in the locale so that was pretty cool.

DRM Cracked, for a little while

So I must admit I took a gander at Fairuse4wm, I have quite a few old DRM-protected albums I purchased from MSN Music. I don't mind the concept of paying for music online, in fact I took great pleasure in going thru the catalogue...
