What just happened? This is the neglected official blog of the Electronic Punk - http://www.electronicpunk.com - The as-of-yet-undecided-title-el-presidente of OSNN.net. He totally promises to blog more than twice a year.
Revenge of Rig Pimpage

Been working hard on www.osnn.net this evening not that users will really notice as most of the work was on the backend, I made the decision to stop using iframes for the headlines on the forums as there are a few issues with the newer versions of Intenet Explorer 7. It was also a change I wanted to make due to the way the page rendered it - the desired effect was correct, but the loading is now better.
Had to write some weird vBulletin functions that took me quite a long time but eventually nailed it, don't think loading will be any faster (or slower for that matter) but it looks better when it loads at the same time as the rest of the page and there isn't a flicker of white. Anyway, very happy with result although I still need to compensate for a few issues such as long thread titles and maybe add something more interesting to the mouseover.
Once I was done testing it in Internet Explorer 6, turned out I had missed something that Internet Explorer 6 didn't care about, turned out to be a rogue href tag, but I had to use Internet Explorer 7 to test for it.
I don't have the beta installed so decided to finally upgrade my Vista test rig with the latest build (as I have been testing it on my laptop), as I am lazy I decided to try and get Remote Desktop to work - and work it did:
A few things missing, such as the glass theme and the sidebar, but at the end of the day I can't really expect those to perform well over a LAN connection, but the performance was pretty solid and even our friend UAC was active warning me incase I did anything at all. No! It's not really that bad and something I know is necessary.
While I was working away, I took some snaps of my Vista rig, codenamed Blaquagate, finally bringing the project to a close:
Was a very cool project and I am very pleased with how it all worked out in the end, very few cables can be seen and generally unless its pretty damn hot, the reservior has no problems keeping the northbridge, hard drive and graphics card quite cool, not that the rig needs it or that you really need to cool a hard drive. But I felt it all had to be done.
