So I formatted over the weekend as I really had nothing better to do, making sure I had my backup.pst, favourites and 300 gig of other data - I was quite impressed with my drive once again, managing to complete moving the data off in around 90 minutes, damn cool.

I don't know what it is about the Windows x64 installation but I have never actually had it work correctly first time. It always has to slap me around with random bluescreens, failure to read a floppy disc or CD that I know damn well is fine, stopping on every other file during the copy to ask for a file so I could hit return for it then to copy the file. Only to find I would get into a weird reboot cycle which actually turned out to be the XP install CD failing to do its detection of a valid system then confusing itself - with the CD out of the drive it booted fine.

Only problem I then found was that I needed to find a network driver which I had to rip off the standard Fatal1ty CD which was smart enough to have included 64bit versions of the software. The rest of my stuff is easily grabbed from either my external hard drive or something called the internet, which is gonna be big some day.

All my application seem to work, Quicktime 7.1 refused for some reason, but 7.0.4 works fine. Sort it out Apple, that is shocking. Was rather suprised to find that World of Wacraft was running in 32bit mode, was this something that got removed?

I was distracted by the whole install by Burnout 360 which I still think is a fantastic game, even though I am struggling to do $12,000,000 worth of damage on one map which is pretty frustrating. So many tankers, so little time.

Tried out the Tomb Raider: Legends demo as well from the marketplace, makes me glad I didn't buy it, the control system was driving me nuts, spent ages trying to run along some log when I was blatently supposed to do some mad acrobatics flip through the air over a wall and hangon. What was I thinking?

Gaming. Do I want Half-life 2: Episode 2 more or Crisis? Eek, fortunately I don't have to make such a decision and will just take both. Woo.

Lastly, on friday I had an email from AMD asking if I wanted to fly out for a one hour press conference on tuesday. All expenses paid. Sadly the notice was far too short and it would have been four days for a one hour meeting - and freebies? If there are high end freebies I will be gutted, I always miss those. Ryan Hoffman from http://www.bink.nu/ will be there so he can keep me up to date, I was going to ask Kunla to go as he is only six miles away working at Google, but firstly I didn't see him online and secondly didn't know if the blatently evil corporation that is Google would allow him a lunchtime off campus.

What is the meeting going to be about? Who knows, but I don't think AMD or ATI are available for comment at the moment. (Typical that just as I am making this post it becomes official: check it out here http://www.osnn.net/comments.php?shownews=13218 if you want more information)
