What just happened? This is the neglected official blog of the Electronic Punk - http://www.electronicpunk.com - The as-of-yet-undecided-title-el-presidente of OSNN.net. He totally promises to blog more than twice a year.
It breathes again

Been a damn long time since I updated so I thought I would do it now, not sure where to start though really, perhaps at the last post.
I was playing with the Word 2007 which now has a feature to post blogs straight from Word itself, a very cool feature if you are into such things. Not exactly the blogging type really as I always have OSNN to express my opinions, that and I tend to rant on far too long which seems to go against the blogging way. But I am sure some people will find it a great feature.
Has been so hot here for the past couple of days and I have been finding it so hard to concentrate in any kind of way after about 3pm, which is strange as that used to be the time my brain would used to finally kick in. Perhaps I need to start increasing my dosage of Red Bull as I am currently down to about one can every four hours, my teeth hurt.
The last post I haven't deleted (har) talked briefly about Wireless keyboards, I was waiting for Logitech to release something exciting as Microsoft's current line-up wasn't particularly exciting and I really like the MX1000. But of course Microsoft have announced something cool which I really really can't wait to get my hands on. Naturally I can't find the damn thing now but I am sure it will be listed on http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/default.mspx at some point (currently at work where we have 50% of flash disabled depending on how our internet provider feels about the way it was added to the webpage. Needless to say the keyboard is wireless, backlit and can be charged by placing it on thin mat, didn't see too many details about the mouse but hopefully it will be up to some kind of superlaser standard, perhaps the next technology blueray-lasermouse or HD-lasermouse. Naturally I just made those up, but if they appear I of course want credit of where you heard it first - the only people who will find it obserd are those that either haven't tried a lasermouse or secretly wish they had thought of it first.
The Vista testing is going well, with the 32bit version on my laptop and the 64bit version on my older desktop, my opinion of the latest version completely destroyed as a stormbug crawled behind the screen on my laptop and promptly died carefully making sure it could never ever actually be removed. Aside from that there were a few issues when I wasn't running the desktop at full resoltion (I can get a higher resolution on the laptop itself than when I actually dock it to a 19" TFT display) but seems very fast. Media Center might have been crawling along but I was really distracted by my new laptop-life partner. Will it decompose? Most likely not before Vista comes out, so looks like thats one bug that will never be fixed.
I think I am going to roll back to WindowsXP 64bit edition, roll back it's an upgrade? Yeah, well I couldn't remember why I wanted to come back to 32bit, maybe I should read my own blog but if it is for some poxy webcam then I can't really justify not doing it. The only other reasons I could think of were my evaluation of the Lavasoft Firewall, the latest version of Outpost which it is based on has 64bit support, or Splinter Cell 3 which I haven't played since I reverted anyway.
It is also a chance for me to reconfigure my raid arrays. At the moment I have 4x 160gig drives in one big array, it seemed cool at the time, but I really get the impression it isn't the best way of doing things. So I want to get it changed into 2 diferent striped arrays, OS and storage on other with a few multimedia applications or games as some people call them, on the other - should speed things up? Am I wrong, wasting time, stupid, both? Please let me know!
I have a lot of data on these raids so I have taken steps to make sure I don't lose any of it by picking up one of the Western Digital My Books. The one I went for was 400 gig so should help me move alot of my data if not all and it is fast! I think I can copy about a gig a minute to it using standard USB 2.0 so I was quite impressed by that. Just checking out the site now and seeing that they also have a 500 gigabyte version. Would recommend these although they are perhaps not as travel-friendly as some ofher branads out there, but they do look nice.
On the gaming from, my Warcraft guild just killed Nefarian and Skeram in one night, now whether you know what this means or not you can either appreciate or understand this was not an easy task.
As usual, I am sure I have forgotten something, but maybe my next update will come faster than this one did!
