The World of Warcraft guild I am in is getting quite a reputation on our server, so obviously as far as promotion goes (why does this game keep bursting out into the real world!), I felt it was important that the Guild had a good looking website.

Sadly the current one is a very basic phpbb theme with a similarly and integrated portal.php that lets you select one (or more) forum category that will act as the news for the frontpage - pretty basic stuff.

I have been working on a design that could continue to use the phpbb templates to some extent (hopefully just for variables such as post counts, online members and indeed the posts themselves) and then the news posters (sounds a bit like a news site so lets call them Heralds to keep in with the whole fantasy theme) could then simply post some HTML in and voila... a post appears, it is a little more complicated as I really want new images up every week, but thats about it, we even have a modified spoiler script from osnn so we can hide some of the post etc. - useful for loot or just more details if people want to know.

The site? It is here for now but still under development, pretty static at the moment while I finish up some ideas that myself and the Guildies are coming up with:

www.electronicpunk.com/conviction

The current site can be found at www.conviction-guild.org/portal.php although obviously just going to the domain takes you to index.php which is just the forums itself, can this be addressed in phpbb - is there a way to rename index.php to forum.php (for example) and then portal.php to index.php would that be enough or would there be broken links all over the place (perhaps even then just fixed with a few template modifications?

Anyway, if anyone could help with that it would be very much appreciated, I don't have alot of experience with PHPBB2 although I am pretty sure I will be able to modify the templates when the time comes.

This is the first time I have done some 'major' webdesign work for quite some time and I was really quite hyped about it, learnt a little bit here and there which I will definately keep in mind next time I come to redesign some of my other current websites (*ahem*)

In other news, Rig Pimpage is pretty much finished, there are a few more cables I would love to sort out, one of which would actually require me to take the motherboard tray out so I can feed it thru a small hole, would save me making physical changes to the case, so I am actually pretty up for doing that, hopefully it won't be too much hassle. Alot of the wires are now taped in place with the exception of the Aquagate LCU power cable and the LCU serial cables which are just tucked away at the moment, the left side (ie the one where you normally access to insert PCI cards etc, looks very tidy indeed. No camera at the moment, so I can't share it just yet.

Very happy that I got it intime for the February CTP of Windows Vista, which is hopefully out any day now (maybe), still running the December CTP - of course - but as part of the testing for my Aquagate I have had it running for three days with no issues to either software or hardware, apart from the whole beta thing, but thats all good.
