What just happened? This is the neglected official blog of the Electronic Punk - http://www.electronicpunk.com - The as-of-yet-undecided-title-el-presidente of OSNN.net. He totally promises to blog more than twice a year.
Defrag Quickie & Firewall Shocker

I was checking out the Raxco website the other day, I really can't remember why though - perhaps for licencing as it is something we are looking into.
Slight tangent, we are also looking into Diskeeper who actually rang the office the day, so I was delighted to tell them that I used Perfectdisk (hah!) but told them I would be happy to switch if they released an x64 version before Raxco. I really have no idea if I would really be happy to switch - never actually used Diskeeper.
My current solution is O&O defrag, which looks great and has some really cool features but the defrag options kinda confuse me. You would think that if you were doing an "modified" defrag it would put the most recently edited stuff at the end so it had the freedom to move around, with the files that never get modified well stacked. Guess not? But I'm not the expert...
Anyway, so I was looking on the Raxco site and I saw that they had updated their FAQ quite recently saying that an x64 version would be released quite soon, so I sent them off an email and got quite a quick reply. They stated that it was in final testing and would be released quite soon. Great news - I might email again and pester for a few more details such as will this be a free upgrade for someone who upgraded their support licence a few months ago? And other interested points. I will post it here when I have more, unless its a release in which case I will bang it straight up on www.osnn.net which is this site I know.
I am also trying to write a review of Lavasoft's Personal Firewall which I think is great, but unfortunatly I switched back to x64 while evaluating it (and when I say that I mean I purchased a copy even after receiving 2 test licences from Lavasoft themselves). I was really liking Lavasoft Personal Firewall it had some cool info about what exactly what was using each port and such interesting information (no really), kinda gutted that they don't have that support but I guess that is something I can incorporate into my review, perhaps even ask Lavasoft themselves. I will complete the review on my laptop soon
Decided to give AVG firewall a go as I already have the professional version (purchased the same day that I uninstalled every single Symantec product from my computer in complete disgust at Norton Antivirus 2006 which was trying to take over my PC like the software it is supposed to prevent, ahem), the upgrade cost me a few quid and I was obviously hopeful after seeing what could be done, it is kinda disappointing really. It does the job of asking me if every single application is allowed on the internet but no cool stuff like Outpost/Personal Firewall.
