Man I have been looking for a Wii for the last few weeks after I decided to buy one. I chose it over the PS3 which is out of my price range.

The PS3 is nice but I'm not much of a lone gamer so the Wii is a great party system and, I think, much more fun to play.

Sure the PS3 has blu-ray and better graphics but I think the gameplay is a helluva lot better. The wiimote cannot compare to the crappy sixaxis controller.

You wont regret it . Wii is better for more casual play or with a few friends over. Hope you enjoy it.

We own all 3 and I will say the Wii is alot of fun and looks good with the component cables to the HDTV. Each system has its strong points Xbox360 has Xbox Live , PS3 has Blu_ray. Wii we all know what it is about ... good luck hope you find one soon. We camped out to get ours on release day.

Hold out a few more months Michael, The new shipments for North America will be in March. Nintendo has a supply and demand thing going on. very smart by them to do so. Don't overpay for something, wait until you can get it for the regular price.

You have a point, I would never get a Wii but that is because I am a hardcore gamer (if I may say so) and I enjoy and want those crazy graphics and the huge community and all that good stuff. Plus something that plays HD is always good with me.

As what you described it is perfect for you though.

    DVD version?

I do have an original XBox which is modded to run XBMC which is totally awesome. SO I use that for DVDs.

My plan is to just get the S-video cable for the Wii, why you ask? Because I only have one component input on my TV and my XBox uses it up.

That is one downside to my TV.

Well mine has 1 component, 2 HDMI, 2 rear S-Video/Composite and 1 side composite. No VGA/DVI but I can always get a DVI-HDMI adapter if I need to.

I just wish I had one or two more components, at least one more.

EDIT: This is the TV I have:

From what I understand there are 2 software packages that make up Wii. One is PAL and the other is ????. One is for Digital TV and the other is for analog TV. I have a friend that got the wrong one and wants to sell it. PAL is for Digital TV and if interested e-mail me don_richas@yahoo.com with subject line (PAL, Wii) and I will forward the info to you on how to get it to your home at a price you can live with. There is also an adapter to aid in changing the format from PAL (digital) to anaglog for about $10.00 US Don
