Here's the link to the emachines site for the exact replacement.
http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/ProductList.ASP http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/sys_lookup.asp MB: MB,IMPERIAL-GV (845GV) MBEM100614IM Unfortunately it doesn't look like they still offer that MB for sale. The MB is made by a small Korean outfit and is no longer for sale. Ebay didn't even have one. So you are going to have to find one that uses the same chipset (Intel 845GV) and has the same features (LAN, Video, USB, etc). If you can find a close enough replacement you should be able to replace the MB and not have to reinstall windows on the HD. Before trying you need to make sure you have a backup copy of all your data. AND you need to verify that the Windows liscence will allow it to be installed on another non-emachines MB. It would be simplest (and cheapest in the long run) to call emachines and ask what they recommend for a replacement. Since they do not have anything shown on their website I suspect they don't have an exact replacement and this could get ugly. The simplest solution may be to just get a new computer. You can waste a lot of hours trying to make a non-exact replacement in an OEM box work. |

Doesn't emachines recommend one?
If not what features does your MB have? Onboard video LAN USB 2 Sound (what type? AC97, etc) AGP slots? How many PCI slots? What form factor? (ATX, Mini ATX, Flex ATX) MB power connector size (20 or 24 pin. These 2 MB have on board video and no AGP slot which is tyupical of emachines. Make sure they have everything your MB has. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 The second MB has gigabyte speed lan the otherone is only 100mb. |

I found this with info on the old MB:
http://www.emachineupgraders.info/di...imperial.shtml The old MB form factor is standard microATX so any microATX replacement will fit in it's place. The board you posted looks like it even has the same back panel connector layout. Only major difference is that the new board has an AGP slot (a good thing) and the floppy connector is off to the side next to a PCI slot (a minor nuisance, cable may not reach). Here is the list of supported processors: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc...MS-7104&kind=1 Looks like it will work fine. It's actually a nice upgrade from the original MB. |
